Ready for a winner?
I just wanted to apologize for not being around more the past few days.
As many of you know, I started having a toothache last Wednesday evening and it just kept getting worse and worse and worse.
By Saturday, my jaw began to swell and pain medicine didn't touch it. What I was taking would last for a couple of hours and than nothing. Sunday was even worse.. MUCH WORSE.. By then, my jaw had doubled in size from Saturday and I was starting to have a sore throat on the side where the infection was.
I toughed it out will Monday morning when I was able to get in to see the dentist. Diagnosis: Abscess! SHOCKER, right??? lol
Yesterday when I wake up, I realize I had blisters on the inside of my gums, in front of my 5 teeth on the bottom row. I believe that the peroxide I was using burned them! Isn't that crazy? I was upset that something I had done to myself was making the condition worse. All this PAIN!!
Anyhow, We are now at Wednesday and I'm still hurting but instead of it being a "cry baby" tantrum complete and utter meltdown pain, it's a "this hurts, but I can deal with it" kind of pain.
Tomorrow I go back in to see the dentist again.. I hate the dentist office!!! Pray for me! lol
Anyhow, I wanted to tell y'all.. I go in on Thursday and this giveaway is Friday. I AM still going through with it! So no worries there!
I wanted to thank everyone who has participated. It means a lot to me.
Anyway, I do plan on ending it approx 1 day and 17 hours from NOW and announcing the winner sometime on Friday. I was just hoping to be able to cheer everyone on this past week and celebrate with the winner. I hope after my dentist trip, and by Friday, I'll be feeling different than I do now and I'll be able to celebrate. Right now I have dread and anxiety about it all. Did I mention how much I dislike the dentist office? What's so bad.. I'm not afraid to tell them that I don't like them. :( Am I bad or what? lol
With this post I'm giving y'all ONE last time to enter my giveaway! I want to end this thing with a BANG! Share share share! You can share even if you aren't interested in joining my giveaway or try to win it and give it to a friend! lol
Thanks again, ~Mel~ ♥

My World-Made By Hand Giveaway
I wanted to let y'all know about a great giveaway given by a fellow blogger. She's giving away a $25 gift card to Hobby Lobby! How generous is that??? You know how much damage I could do in Hobby Lobby with 25 BUCKS??? I joined into her giveaway MYSELF! :)
Use my link to check her out! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the things you find on her site! :)
$25 Hobby Lobby Gift Card Giveaway!
I wanted to tell you a few things I found on her site that I LOVE! In her tutorial section there are "how to's" on lots of things! I love her idea of making pendants from PAPER! I am going to HAVE to try this one! That is so creative! She also had one on how to make your very own pair of flip flops from scratch! What a great idea! I could SOO see my children wanting to try that one.. The 3rd one I like is "How to make bulky wooden candlesticks." When I build my home, I'm going to HAVE to make myself a set of these! These would even be cool to make and give away at Christmas. They'd never know they were homemade!
Go check out her page for yourself. You may find some things you're interested in trying for yourself. :)

Day on the Bayou!
When we went home for Easter, we decided to bring our boat back with us so we could go fishing on hubby's day off. Back home, we spend a lot of time on the water.
We started out the day with our boat in tow on our way to the Muddy Mississippi. When we finally made it to the river, it was super windy! We went ahead and launched anyway because there was a bayou up the river a few hundred yards we could fish in and it'd shield us from the wind.
We went up into the bayou and saw the craziest thing. Fish were hitting the top of the water everywhere! They seemed to be swimming along on each side of the boat and everywhere else as well. I thought this was a good sign... DH kept traveling up the bayou to see if he could find a place he wanted to stop and fish. We come upon a log jam! That was the end of the road for us! Hubby breaks out the rods and reels to fish. Fish are still hitting the top of the water everywhere, but we weren't sure what it was yet. It was finally discovered! They were alligator gar! This bayou was FULL of ALLIGATOR GAR! For anyone that fishes, you know this is not a good thing! They are not edible (well I wouldn't recommend eating them) and they will eat everything in the creek! With the number we saw (in the hundreds) we decided we'd leave this fishing spot on the quest for a better one.
We come back out to the Mississippi and head South on the river. The wind is at our face. Water spraying everywhere and was just flat out miserable so we made a decision to leave. Oh boy, were the boys disappointed! They were not happy nor understanding why our "fishing day" was turning out so badly.
DH had been eying a fishing hole since we've been here in Mississippi so we ride by this small "creek like" bayou called Little Bayou Pierre to see how it looked. Hubby wanted to stop and fish that second, but I felt we needed to go home and drop off our boat and get a couple of things. He wasn't happy with me, but he obliged and we headed home..
We were driving down Natchez Trace Parkway when we saw a huge timber rattler on the side of the road. Hubby was shocked at the size and wanted all of us to see it and possibly get a picture. He starts to back up in the road, forgetting that he had his boat behind us. At first it was going straight back but than and it started to jackknife off the side of the road. The road is on top of a hill. I hollered for him to stop! He slammed on breaks and the tires squeal! We're just lucky he stopped when he did and the boat didn't start rolling down the hill backwards. This could have turned out very badly, but it all turned out okay..
He pulled us back straight and backed up again (this time with the boat in mind). The only picture I was able to take was taken without my camera chip in and it didn't save it to my camera because the internal memory was full.. :( It wouldn't have been a good one anyway because he was already headed for his descent off the side of the bridge.. lol I really wanted a picture!
Anyhow, we drive back to the rv park, dropped off the boat, got my camera chip, get my beach towel, and we head back to Little Bayou Pierre.
We get back to Little Bayou Pierre and head to the water through bushes, briars, and MUD! Good ole Mississippi Mud! The boys were having a blat slipping, sliding, and bogging down in that mess. Hannah slipped down on her behind! hehe I just didn't want to get muddy nor ruin my camera I had hanging around my neck! That was all I was worried about. lol Hubby disappears to start fishing while my son Elijah is helping me by letting me hold his hand (and sometimes head) to help me down this cliff of Mississippi Mud. We must have really wanted to go fishing huh? I'm used to being dragged through unspeakable places in search of a good fishing hole. lol
So we get to the little sand bar. I spread out my towel and they start fishing and the fun begins!
This was Elijah's first big catch! He was so proud of himself!
No sooner than I get Elijah on camera, Isaiah runs up with a smile on his face that can light up the world! :)
Hubby decided to walk upstream to see if we could find a better spot to fish. On our walk up the "bayou" the boys see a snake crossing the "bayou" and stops at the waters edge. Of course I had to take a picture of it, especially after missing the timber rattler earlier in the day..
I later found out that it is a RARE "Pygmy Ratter!" The snake is really short! Smaller than any I've ever seen before I'm not sure if this one is full grown or not, but I could see it being full grown if it's a Pygmy.. Pygmy anything are always short! lol
So we walk on further up and find the honey hole where we remained the rest of the afternoon.. Well till we ran out of bait. :)
We celebrated on every catch! They seemed to be catching them left and right! As soon as the hook hit the water, they were reeling them in..
Hannah had to be able to say she caught ONE.. So here's her proof! lol
Isaiah was on the log fishing and he got a bite.. He went to reel and the reel froze up on him.. DH was yelling "grab the line, grab the line!" Isaiah went to reach for the line and lost his balance, fell in the water, and grabbed the fish! It was so funny cause it appeared as if he wanted the fish so bad that he jumped in to catch it. lol He had the fish in his hands and DH asked where his pole was. In all the confusion, he hadn't even thought of his misplaced pole. I chime in, "It's on the other end of the fishing line!" Hubby said, "Whatever you do, don't let go of the fish!" lol
We all laughed and had a great time!
In the last 3 hours of the day, they caught a total of 21 fish! I wasn't able to fish because I don't have a MS fishing license.. :( Boohoo! This problem may have to be resolved! :)
They fished till the last of the 100 crickets we bought were completely gone! We than packed up our things and headed for the truck..
On our way out, they were talking about how much fun they had. All in all, it was a GREAT family day! ♥

5 IDEAS for $5 on Amazon!
I decided to do a look around Amazon to see just what I would buy if I won the $5 AGC in the give away. I thought I'd show y'all a few of these things... Truth be known, if I won I'd probably use it to save up for something bigger, but not everyone hoards their AGC's like I do. haha I thought it'd be fun to show you a few things you could purchase with the $5 giveaway.. This is fun!
1. First stop is Magazines! This magazine subscription is for $6, but I believe I'd throw in the extra $1 to get it! Shipping is free and you can cancel at ANY time! :)
2. I know I'm stretching the $5 limit here, but this next item is $10.99 for THREE! That's $3.66 per bottle.. See I knew I could find a way around the $5 limit.. hehe
These little 2oz bottles are small enough to throw in your purse so you'll always have the NO carb alternative to sugar within reach! :) I watch my carb count and this one offers 0g of carbs per serving.. THAT'S ZERO CARBS! Woohoo! It's also cheaper than the Splenda version of 0carb liquid version. :)I call that a win, win, win! I REALLY want these! Can you tell?
3. This is a newly released song that I love and want really bad! Prices of MP3 downloads on Amazon range from $0-$1.29 each. This song happens to be $1.29, but I could see myself easily purchasing 4 songs for $5!
4. If you've never tried one of these, they are a MUST HAVE! I am not really familiar with this brand, but I went based on price (under $5) and the reviews.. There are others that I'd probably choose if I wanted to spend more money, but for $4.37, it's worth a try! I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed! I want to buy these and give them away as presents. You never know, you may see this item or one similar in a giveaway! That's how confident I am!
5. I have actually bought this same product as a "hand soap", but my daughter and I use it on my face as an exfoliating soap. It works GREAT! This body wash appears to have the same ingredients, but in body wash form. I really want to try this product because I know how well the other soap works on my face. The mineral sea salts do the job!
Softsoap pampering body wash, spa radiant. Exfoliating with mineral sea salts for fresh, glowing skin. Leaves skin deeply hydrated and soft.

Diva Dog, Annie!
I'm going to attempt to dress our dog, at least from the "waist" down because she's coming into season. I even bought her some feminine products to go with her future outfit. We could always spay her, but I'm afraid it'll change her hormones and cause her to gain weight.
She has NEVER worn clothes before so Hannah and I wanted to see how she'd handle it. We put a shirt on her that is slightly to small for Isaiah and she spun around and around and around trying to bite it off of herself. She almost spun herself into the tongue of the travel trailer. I wish I had filmed her! We just stood out there laughing at her for about 10 minutes. hehe Poor doggie! I think we gave her a complex.. lol
The shirt she has on has a hoodie... Hannah pulled it up on her head, her ears looked like she had hair hanging down. I told Hannah that all she needed now was some sunglasses and she'd be lookin' good. lol What do y'all think?
Ok, this is REALLY funny! We tucked the hoodie down into the shirt because with the hoodie and the sunglasses, it was just to much distraction for her so check out these pictures! Oh my Lord, they are so funny!!!
Update: I went to the store and bought her a size 5 in little girl clothes and we dressed her up. Here is the result!

What do I miss from home? You may be surprised..
Well Easter is now over. As you all know, we went home for the weekend. It was really good to see my family. My family is so big, so I still didn't get see everyone.
We left on Thursday morning, headed towards Mobile, AL and made it back home at about 10 p.m. last night. Shew, at all the driving!
I have to say, I have the best parents in the world. Not only do they let my family stay in their home, they actually WANT us to stay with them when we come home for a visit. I am very blessed!
Apart from missing my family while away, I miss things that I never thought I would miss when I went back home. For one, I miss my cows. Isn't that crazy? I really do. Our little bull acts as if he doesn't recognize us and wants to be more aggressive towards us. Our cow Milly still let us touch her, and Shadow came and wanted us to feed her. She still hasn't forgotten us. She acted as if she actually missed US. :) Our neighbor, that's tending to our animals, said that all of our chickens had disappeared. When we were at home, we found out that at least 2 hens and the rooster are still alive. :D I was really happy when we saw them.
I miss receiving mail! I know this sounds silly, but I actually look forward to checking my mail every day. Our driveway is 1/10 of a mile long, and I get a little time to myself by going to check it every day. The exercise doesn't hurt either. haha I guess I feel like I've accomplished something when I open it up and see a balance lower on a debt we owe. I actually like to pay my bills! Crazy huh? I don't ever look forward to utility bills though. They're always to high and they never get paid off. ;)
I also miss our church family. In the time that we've been there, I've gotten close to a few people and I miss being around them each week and being involved with the things the Lord is doing back home... I also miss helping out with The Chair Ministry also. I'll have to blog about that ministry one day and tell y'all what it's all about. It's a ministry that's near and dear to my heart..
I miss knowing where everything is... Back home if I want to go to the hardware store, need a travel trailer part, want to go to a buffet, to the feed store, tire store, or simply go to a thrift store, it's so difficult to find over here. Back home, I can about drive somewhere blindfolded and make it there. Here, I have internet searches and maps and still can't find what I'm looking for. lol It either does not exist, or I have to drive an hour and get lost finding it.. Don't get me wrong, I've learned my way around pretty well, but there are still some things that are a challenge to find. We get lost every time we drive to Jackson, MS. lol
I miss my local news station! I am not familiar with these strangers on my tv screen. lol It's funny how you feel like you know your news anchors even though you've never met them in person.
I miss the children's 4-H group. We just started this school year, but being over here, it feels like the children are missing out on so much! There are a few ladies I've grown to love and I miss them as well.
I'm sure I could come up with other things that I miss from home, but you know what? I wouldn't change change one single thing! My family is healthy, my husband is working, we are here with him, the children have children to play with, and all is right in the world right now. Not saying we don't have "issues," in our lives, but I guess they all hold second place to things that are most important.
We often feel that our lives are a walk of faith. Nothing has ever been easy for us. We have had to fight and work for every single thing we've ever done. We have always had to have that faith knowing that the Lord will provide, the Lord will make a way where there seems to be no way, a faith that the Lord will keep us and uphold us through good or bad, we we know that we are in His hands.
Lord, help me to be content with that I have and in whatever season you have us in. Amen!
Heading home... Happy Easter!
Today we are headed back home to Mobile, AL for the Easter holidays with my family.
I have been thinking so much about my blog and where I want to take it that I literally dreamed about it last night. I couldn't go back to sleep when the alarm clock went off at 5 a.m. Why didn't I disable that thing? lol. I'm just so excited so I had to get up to tell y'all!!!
I don't have time to go into all of it now, because we will all be awaking to get ready for today's drive, but I will be working on blogs to update everyone on my plans and how those plan involve my loyal readers.
I do have one update to give y'all today though. I have officially opened my aStore. What is an aStore you ask? It's my online Amazon store where my loyal readers can go and shop on Amazon right from my blog using the sidebar Amazon search feature or use this link: Mel's Amazon aStore that takes you to my aStore. I will go more in depth on how this is important in a future blog. Woohoo!
I have some giveaways in the works also! Who doesn't like a giveaway? I want to give back to my followers! As my readership grows, I'll be able to give away more things! Some giveaways will come right from the Amazon shelves! Can you tell I'm excited yet?
Like I said though, in order to do all of these things, I need to get my readership up. I just started blogging in January so y'all are my foundation here.. I need you! Feel free to share my blog with your friends and their friends! :)
Now on a more serious note.....
I am going home for Easter weekend, which means I won't be around for a few days to tell y'all Happy Easter! As many of you know, this is the holiday on which we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! This is not something to be sad about on Easter, but something on which we are to CELEBRATE, because He is ALIVE!!!
With that being said, I want to thank my readers for sticking with me, and Happy Easter! He is the reason for the season! :) ♥
